The CX-EPD1289L is Camden's surface-mount RIM electric strike with preload capability (up to 15 lbs / 6.8 kg), the first of its kind in the industry, offering a Grade 1 'universal' design with removable latch monitoring switch, field-selectable 12/24V AC/DC operation and fail-safe/fail-secure operation. It is available in stainless steel or all-black finish and is UL fire and burglary rated.

| Preparation | Align the installation jig with the actual jamb and RIM latch centerline. Check door alignment and strike clearance before marking. Remove the jig, punch pilot holes, then drill the 9/16 inch wiring hole and 7/32 inch mounting holes shown on the exact template. Feed wires without pulling or pinching. Initially fit the top and bottom 1/4-20 x 1-1/4 inch screws loosely, align and test latch movement, then mark and drill the middle mounting holes and secure all four screws. Fit the appropriate spacer arrangement only as required by the actual gap. Attach the latch monitor and cover with the four M3 x 6 screws after verifying wiring and operation. Confirm the required fail-safe or fail-secure mode before commissioning; the manual describes fail-secure as the default. |
| Electrical | Use the matched 12/24V AC/DC supply and the corresponding pre-wired power connector. The selected external power circuit uses two field conductors. For 12V hardwiring, red/black join the positive supply and blue/green join the negative; for 24V, red is positive and green negative, with black/blue joined locally. Connect the supplied MOV across the supply inputs. Factory leads and the local jumper remain local; physical cable jackets and routes require installation design. The latch-monitor contact is orange COM, white NO and grey NC. A selected COM/NO or COM/NC external low-voltage monitoring loop uses two conductors; use three only if the controller actually requires COM and both throws. Its SPDT 100mA at 24V DC resistive rating is a contact limit, not a monitor supply requirement.
