The 6400 Series is a modular, fire-rated electric strike with a non-handed internal solenoid design, engineered for configurable installation with vertical and horizontal adjustment, adaptable to centerline and offset latchbolt applications in cylindrical and mortise locks.

Product specifications
Voltage Field-selectable 12/24 VDC or 12/24 VAC
Current 12 VDC: 0.375 Amp continuous duty; 24 VDC: 0.19 Amp continuous duty; 12/24 VAC: 0.28-0.565 Amp intermittent duty
Strength Static strength 1500 lbs; Dynamic strength 70 ft-lbs
Dimensions Standard 4-7/8" faceplates (offset and centerline); 1-3/8" vertical opening adjustable within 3-1/8" range; 1-3/4" backbox depth
Other Latch throw 3/4"; heavy-duty stainless steel, BHMA 630 finish; 3-hour fire-rated to UL 10C (fail-secure only); UL 1034 listed; UL 294 listed
Low-voltage wiring Connection count needs review
PreparationThe strike is installed in a prepared frame cutout. ANSI-prepped frames are cut using a template; frames without ANSI prep need a lock centerline transfer and a template cut. Mounting tabs may be needed. The strike requires a 1-3/4" backbox depth. A power supply is also required (see wiring).
ElectricalUse the supplied 6400 harness and a compatible UL Listed burglary/access-control supply. For 12VDC, join RED/BLUE to positive and BLACK/YELLOW to negative; for 24VDC, join YELLOW/BLUE locally, RED to positive and BLACK to negative. The manual also permits 12-24 VAC with polarity unobserved and its specified intermittent duty; DC uses the listed continuous-duty configuration. Install the supplied non-polarized MOV across the harness power wires/terminals as instructed. If a suppression diode is separately required, observe its polarity. The optional latch monitor is a separate SPDT contact circuit; its 2 Amp at 24VDC rating is not the strike supply requirement. The local lead joins and MOV are not separate field cable runs; choose actual cable specification and routing from the selected installation.

Conditional connectionsStrike power input via supplied harness at 12 VDC or 12-24 VAC: cable runs quantity unspecified; conductor count unspecified; wire type not documented; size unspecified; shielding unspecified; rating unspecified; endpoints strike wire harness (red, blue, black, yellow) to UL Listed burglary/access control power supply; when Installation configuration is Base product; applies when 12 VDC or 12-24 VAC input is used. RED and BLUE to positive, BLACK and YELLOW to negative. The harness lead boundary and field cable run are not documented.; Strike power input via supplied harness at 24 VDC: cable runs quantity unspecified; conductor count unspecified; wire type not documented; size unspecified; shielding unspecified; rating unspecified; endpoints strike wire harness (red, black, yellow, blue) to UL Listed burglary/access control power supply; when Installation configuration is Base product; applies when 24 VDC input is used. YELLOW and BLUE are joined together, RED goes to positive and BLACK to negative. The field cable run is not documented.; MOV inductive kickback suppressor across power leads: cable runs quantity unspecified; conductor count unspecified; wire type not documented; size unspecified; shielding unspecified; rating unspecified; endpoints strike positive and negative harness wires or terminals to MOV; when Installation configuration is Applies to meet BHMA A156.31. The MOV is installed across the positive and negative wires or terminals and is not polarity sensitive. This is a local component connection, not a separate cable run.
