Camden CX-ED2071 and CX-ED2079 are low-profile, Grade 2 ANSI 'Universal' electric strikes for cylindrical locksets, offering field-selectable fail-safe/fail-secure operation and horizontal adjustability of the strike body. CX-ED2071 operates at 8-16V AC/DC and includes (3) stainless steel faceplates; CX-ED2079 operates at 12/24V AC/DC, is UL 1034 and UL 294 listed, and also includes (3) stainless steel faceplates (CX-ED2079-1 includes 1 faceplate).

PreparationSelect the black-finish faceplate matching the actual cylindrical latch and wood, hollow-metal or ANSI frame. Align the strike to the latch, mark the mortise using the matching supplied template, test-fit and adjust before fastening. Use supplied mounting brackets for hollow-metal preparation; check an existing ANSI cutout and modify only as the template requires. Use the documented wood-frame fasteners for wood. Preserve exit/panic hardware operation. The strike ships fail-secure; if fail-safe is selected, loosen the mode screw, rotate and seat the set plate, then retighten and test engagement and release. Verify the allowed intermittent energization schedule before using either mode.
ElectricalUse the actual manufacturer-rated 8/16V AC/DC supply and verify compatibility before connecting. The power circuit uses two external conductors to the two red strike leads; connect the supplied varistor across those two input wires. Use a Class 2 power-limited output from the listed control panel or power supply. The manual lists 305mA at 8V DC, 190mA at 8V AC, 625mA at 16V DC and 460mA at 16V AC. This model is intermittent-duty; obtain the permitted energized duration/duty cycle for the actual application before commissioning. AC operation buzzes and DC is silent. Cable-run quantity, cable type, gauge and shielding are unspecified and require installation design.
