The CX-ED1410 (standard depth, 5/8"-3/4" latch projection) and CX-ED1420 (low profile, 1/2"-5/8" latch projection) are UL 1034/UL 294 and UL 90-minute fire rated, ANSI/BHMA A156.31 Grade 1 electric strikes for cylindrical locksets. They offer dual 12/24V AC/DC voltage and field-selectable fail-safe/fail-secure operation, with an ANSI square faceplate and trim plate included.

Product specifications
Voltage 12/24V AC/DC

PreparationThe CX-ED1420 is installed in a mortise cutout in the door jamb. The strike and its specified depth must fit into the cutout. For a hollow metal frame, two mounting-bracket holes are drilled with a 1/4 in bit and the brackets are fitted. An ANSI frame may already match the strike size. If it does not, the jamb is cut as for the hollow metal frame. A wooden jamb needs pilot holes drilled with a #21 bit for the supplied wood screws. The strike must be powered from a low-voltage supply, and the voltage and fail safe/fail secure mode are set to suit.
ElectricalThe strike is a powered device rated 12/24V AC/DC, so it needs a low voltage supply wired to its factory leads. The installer selects the voltage to match the power source and connects the supplied varistor between the input wires. For UL 294 / UL 1034 compliance it must be powered from a UL 294 / UL 603 Class 2 power limited output, and with AC it needs a regulated Class 2 output with an AC On indicator. The documents give no field cable run count, no field cable gauge and no conductor count.
Preparation requiredYes
Electrical wiring requiredYes
Conditional connectionsFactory strike leads and selected voltage connector: cable runs quantity unspecified; conductor count unspecified; wire type not documented; size unspecified; shielding unspecified; rating unspecified; endpoints Strike factory leads to Manufacturer-selected 12V or 24V connector; when Installation configuration is Internal accessory connection; not field cable: Select the connector for the actual supply voltage. In the manufacturer cut-wire alternative, at 12V join red with black for the positive input and blue with green for the supply return. At 24V use red for the positive input and green for the supply return; join black and blue to one another as a local series link, separate from the supply return. Connect the supplied varistor across the input wires as shown in Figure 5.1. These are local strike-lead configurations; field cable conductor and run quantities remain undocumented.; Low-voltage power to the strike. The installer connects the transformer/power supply low-voltage wire to the strike's black wire.: cable runs quantity unspecified; conductor count unspecified; wire type not documented; size unspecified; shielding unspecified; rating unspecified; endpoints Transformer / power supply to Strike lead wires; when Installation configuration is Base product power connection for CX-ED1420 in either hollow metal frame or ANSI frame installation. Not optional. The field cable run count and conductor count are not documented, and the boundary between factory leads and field cable is not stated.; Varistor connected between the strike input wires to protect against voltage spikes. The connection varies with input voltage.: cable runs quantity unspecified; conductor count unspecified; wire type not documented; size unspecified; shielding unspecified; rating unspecified; endpoints Varistor (supplied) to Strike input wires; when Installation configuration is Internal accessory connection; not field cable: Base product protective component supplied in the package and used in the power connection. It is a local connection at the strike input wires, not a new field cable pull.
