The CX-ED1079 series comprises the CX-ED1079 (low profile, 5/8" latch projection) and CX-ED1079D (standard depth, 3/4" latch projection) UL 1034/UL 294 listed 'Universal' Grade 1 ANSI electric strikes for cylindrical locksets. They offer field-selectable 12/24V AC/DC operation, fail-safe/fail-secure operation, and horizontal faceplate/body adjustment, with optional latch monitoring on both models.

PreparationThis is the low-profile strike. Use the purchased black faceplates. Choose the correct faceplate and template for the actual hollow-metal, ANSI or wood frame and latch projection. Align the strike with the latch, mark and prepare the required mortise, and test-fit before fastening. For a hollow-metal frame use the supplied mounting brackets; for an existing ANSI preparation check the cutout and alter it only as required by the matching template. Use the documented wood-frame fasteners for wood. Confirm the actual depth and faceplate pattern rather than treating the drawing as a universal cutout. Preserve operation of exit/panic hardware. Select fail-secure or fail-safe with the mode screw/set plate as instructed and test latch engagement after adjustment.
ElectricalSelect the actual12/24V AC/DC supply and matching supplied voltage harness before connecting the strike. The voltage-selecting harness has two external supply connections; internal coil wires and joins are separate. For the documented DC cut-wire option,12V uses red/black positive and blue/green negative;24V uses red positive and green negative with black/blue joined locally. Fit the supplied varistor across the supply pair as shown. DC polarity annotations do not apply to an AC supply. The manual gives260mA at12V DC and150mA at24V DC; AC operation buzzes and DC is silent. This L variant also has a separate latch-monitor connector: orange COM, white NO, grey NC; use two monitoring conductors for one throw or three for both, according to the selected monitoring circuit. Verify the reported contact state with the actual latch. Select fail mode, supply and monitoring use before scheduling cables. Physical cable runs, cable type, gauge and shielding are not established by these terminal or factory-tail counts.
